When people think Hog Roast most visualise a whole pig attached to a stick and slowly turning over an open fire. Unfortunately, the insurance and hygiene rules in England means that this popular fantasy is not really achievable. However, have no fear as you can still have your spit-roasted pig, just in a safer environment. Hog Roast Chawton uses the Titan machine to cook a spit-roast, it is the most commercial and versatile spit-roast machine on the market in the UK. Cooking the whole pig in the Titan involves Hog Roast Chawton attaching the pig to a stainless-steel pole which then gets dropped into the machine to cook. The pole gets attached to a motor which turns the pig ensuring an even cook. The Titan has a window giving a visual element for the guests while the pig cooks. Although, the smell alone would be enough to impress guests, it gives off the most heavenly and enticing aroma as it cooks. The titan is an impressive piece of equipment and easily has the capability of cooking a pig up to 80kg which would comfortably feed up to 300 people. The spit-roasted pig delivers juicy carved meat where moisture has been locked in under the incredibly crunchy crackling.
For the serve, the pig gets lifted up onto grips either side of the machine and a carving tray is slid underneath. The guests receive meat straight from the pig. When it is lifted up, guests can see the whole cooked pig, giving a theatrical element to their dinner. As the pig cooks, any juices that fall off it is collected at the bottom of the machine. The juices are then drained and added to the sage and onion stuffing accompaniment providing a super tasty flavour.
