Fundays and Fireworks for Hog Roast Slinford

Hog Roast SlinfordHog Roast Slinford’s local rugby club was having a fun day last Sunday. There were Halloween and bonfire inspired crafts, inflatable slides and bouncy castles, as well as a selection of funfair rides. Hog Roast Slinford was excited to be catering at this fantastic event.

The Rugby club has their own bar but to make ensure a fast flow of people and small queues, they had asked Hog Roast Slinford to provide Tea and coffee. The station was under a separate gazebo to the food and had a selection of teas, coffee and hot chocolate for the children. It was self-service with Hog Roast Slinford keeping an eye on everything. A barrel of different biscuits was also laid out for people to help themselves too, something Hog Roast Slinford always includes with hot drinks.

Hog Roast Slinford was serving their speciality – a whole roasted pig cooked on low heat for 12 hours. The homemade sage and onion stuffing gets mixed with the juices around the pig creating a tremendous flavour. The pig’s skin always comes up super crackly and its always satisfying to hear the crunch as guests walk away nibbling on it. The hog roast bap was served with a selection of bread rolls, wraps and a variety of sauces – of course apple sauce was an option!

It was agreed that for people who couldn’t eat pork, Hog Roast Slinford would provide chicken kebabs. These are made up of butcher chicken chunks and a selection of colourful Mediterranean vegetables and rubbed with lemon and black pepper marinade. These were served in soft tortillas.

Hog Roast SlinfordVegetarians and vegans enjoyed BBQ jackfruit mixed with peppers and sweet corn, a tangy and delicious choice.

As it started to become dark, the rugby club had decided to do two sets of fireworks. The first lot was at four-thirty pm. These were fireworks with low noise for the children. Later they had a louder and more spectacular display for everyone else – such a good idea!
