Baby showers are an exciting way to celebrate and anticipate the arrival of your new born. There is no better way to celebrate than with friends and family gathered around ready to shower the mother-to-be with gifts and well wishes. To add to the special day, it is important to choose a catering option that is right for you. Here at Hog Roast Southsea, we have a variety of menus to choose from. And if none of our available menus are up to your taste, then we can work with you to create a perfect menu.
Last week we catered for Christine’s baby shower. We were hired by Christine’s sister, Alice, who decided to take the reins with the party planning so Christine could sit back and enjoy it, stress-free. The baby shower was organised at Christine’s house so that the mum-to-be was in the comfort of her own home. Alice had chosen the baby shower to have a pastel-coloured theme and had decorated the house with a storm of pastel balloons and bunting.
The Hog Roast Southsea team arrived hours before the proposed mealtime, to cook and prepare the classic hog roast menu in good time. For the main dish, guests enjoyed slow-roasted pork in bread rolls, with a specialty homemade applesauce, sage and onion stuffing and crackling. We also served Halloumi and vegetable skewers as a vegetarian option. To supplement the main dish, we whipped up our famous homemade coleslaw, roasted new potatoes and a seasonal mix of salads and sides.
When deciding on a menu, Alice had been looking at the classic hog roast menu but could not see any desserts included. So when calling us to book, she enquired if we were able to prepare desserts, as mum-to-be had gained a big sweet tooth during her pregnancy. Of course, the Hog Roast Southsea team was happy to oblige and served a variety of dessert dishes. The desserts of choice were our tower of delicious profiteroles and a Lemon torte with fresh fruit.
