It’s the season for food and festive parties –
Merry Hogmas, everyone!
Are we ever going to get tired of putting our own cheeky hog-themed twist on classic Christmas songs? Nope. Not a chance. It’s all part of the fun – just like catering your festive get-togethers! And speaking of Christmas cheer, Hog Roast Southsea recently packed up the kit, the carving knives and a whole lot of festive spirit for a brilliant Christmas social at Cockleshell Community Sports Club.
You know the rule: no good party begins without good food. Our clients clearly live by the same motto, because they went straight for our legendary Festive Menu – the one that has people asking for seconds before they’ve even finished their first plate. Olly, our catering manager for the day, took command of the kitchen like Santa steering his sleigh, working away all afternoon to get everything just right for the 80 hungry guests.
By the time people started pouring into the hall, the place smelled like a Christmas party should – a warm, savoury cloud of slow-roasted pork and juicy turkey. It seemed like guests had the impossible task of choosing between the two, but as always, Hog Roast Southsea made sure there was plenty to go around. The pork joint came out with that perfect crackling everyone fights over, while the inside stayed tender and flavourful. The turkey was just as impressive. Served with a glossy homemade cranberry sauce that disappeared faster than we could believe.
The sides? Oh, they were the real scene-stealers. Sage and onion stuffing piled high, creamy cauliflower cheese bubbling away, shiny glazed veg, pigs in blankets, roasties… all drenched in our rich, velvety gravy. Even the veggies and vegans were eating out the palm of our hand (figuratively, of course) thanks to our grilled vegetable kebabs and BBQ-pulled jackfruit sliders.
And because no Christmas feast is complete without something sweet, we rounded things off with homemade Yule log and fresh cream. A simple ending, but the perfect one.
