Some places were just made for parties. And Greenwood Manor? It’s definitely one of them! Not far from Southampton, tucked away in the sleepy village of Durley, this 19th century converted farmhouse was transformed into a party paradise. With panoramic views of the East Horton Golf Course, beautifully landscaped grounds with a couple of outbuildings and a dedicated party barn, even CountryLife was raving about this one-of-a-kind property back in 2022!
But, of course, the British weather had to go and stick its oar in. A storm rolled through not long ago and left the old barn looking a tad worse for wear. But the owners weren’t about to give in. Instead, they decided to look on the bright side. Turning a bad situation into the opportunity of a lifetime, they upgraded the barn with a brand-new swimming pool and spa! So, maybe every cloud does have a silver lining after all. And as luck would have it, their renovations wrapped up just in time to throw an epic family birthday party.
On the last Sunday in October, around sixty guests showed up ready to celebrate. Hog Roast Southampton was there to make sure everyone was well fed – and trust me, the food matched the setting. The hosts wanted something that looked impressive but still had that comforting, homemade feel. As always, our hog roast ticked all the boxes. Boasting crispy crackling, juicy pulled pork, sage and onion stuffing, applesauce, plus gluten-free rolls and wraps, this was proper crowd-pleaser stuff.
Of course, Hog Roast Southampton didn’t forget the non-meat eaters either. Keeping the vegetarian and vegan guests happy, we had grilled veg and halloumi skewers (minus the halloumi for the vegans) with flatbreads, sweet and spicy chilli sauce and tzatziki, and some smoky pulled jackfruit sliders thrown in for good measure. Even the kids were sorted with gourmet hot dogs that disappeared faster than we could plate them.
The clients couldn’t have envisioned a better event. The combination of great views, a cosy home, fantastic company and Hog Roast Southampton’s show-stopping food meant every guest left this event happy.
