A Secret School Send-Off Catered by Hog Roast Guildford!

Hog Roast GuildfordAnyone who’s spent time working in a school knows that the staff room dynamic is something else entirely. You might start out as colleagues, but somewhere along the way, between the shared marking sessions, the chaotic end of terms and the endless cups of tea, you become something closer to family. So when someone moves on – especially a headteacher – it deserves more than a quick farewell and a box of biscuits.

In this case, one local school decided to organise a surprise leaving celebration, carefully planned in secret and kept firmly under wraps. Hog Roast Guildford was quietly brought in to handle the catering, making sure everything was ready without giving the game away to the guest of honour.

Of course, pulling off a surprise in a busy school isn’t exactly straightforward – there are always eyes everywhere, unexpected timetable changes, and the occasional close call. But our team is used to slipping in, setting up quietly, and letting the smell of good food do all the talking when the moment finally arrives.

And when it did, it landed perfectly.

Once the headteacher walked in and the surprise was revealed, their reaction said everything – a mix of shock and genuine gratitude. After that first moment settled, it didn’t take long for the celebrations to get underway.

Hog Roast Guildford helped set the tone with a mouth-watering spread featuring slow-roasted pulled pork served with applesauce, sage and onion stuffing and plenty of crispy crackling tucked into soft rolls and wraps (talk about a crowd-pleaser). Alongside that, there was a full selection of tomato and mozzarella salad, mixed salad, coleslaw and a hearty potato dish that disappeared faster than even we could have anticipated.

For guests wanting something different, BBQ pulled jackfruit sliders and grilled vegetable kebabs went down just as well, making sure everyone had something to enjoy without compromise.

By the end of the evening, the tables were full of empty plates, the conversations were loud, and the atmosphere had well and truly shifted from “school day” to “proper celebration.”

It was a pleasure to be part of such a thoughtful send-off, and we’d like to wish the headteacher all the very best for what comes next. Thank you for inviting Hog Roast Guildford to be a part of your celebration – it’s a celebration we’ll remember fondly.
