Hog Roast Liss Kicks Off August With An Epic Wedding Feast!

Hog Roast HampshireAugust’s barely started, and it’s already been a busy one for Hog Roast Liss. We kicked things off in style by catering James and Imogen’s wedding nearby and honestly, what a day it turned out to be.

With 50 guests to feed, the happy couple were after something relaxed, rustic and easy for people to graze on as the evening rolled on – and our hog roast fit that brief perfectly. As always, we sourced the hog fresh from a local, award-winning farm, and it arrived pink, plump and in exactly the right state to become a properly mouth-watering centrepiece. All it needed was a bit of salt, a splash of water and a few uninterrupted hours turning slowly on the spit before it became the showstopper everyone was queuing for – and yes, that queue had formed well before we’d even started carving.

Savoury sage and onion stuffing, crackling with just the right crunch and a good spoonful of applesauce sat alongside the pork, giving guests plenty to pile onto their hog roast sandwiches. On the other hand, veggie and vegan guests weren’t left standing around looking lost either. Our grilled vegetable kebabs and BBQ-pulled jackfruit sliders held their own against the main event and made sure everyone was properly included.

As for the sides, Hog Roast Liss kept things fairly simple this time. A mixed salad and a coleslaw with just enough lemon in it to cut through everything else sat alongside baskets of fresh buns and wraps. Sometimes less really is more, and this was one of those times – nobody needs fourteen different accompaniments when the main event is doing all the work.

By the time the music picked up and people started drifting onto the dance floor, there wasn’t a huge amount left on the table. Empty trays, a few very full guests and more than one person telling us that ours was the best wedding spread they’d ever had.

And that’s really the whole point, isn’t it? A wedding where the food gets people talking, not just eating. If that’s the sort of day you’re after – relaxed, genuinely tasty, nothing stuffy about it – get in touch with Hog Roast Liss and we’ll start putting something together.
